As CEO and Research Chair, Rob Horwitz keeps DIRECTIONS focused on its mission to provide its clients with clear, concise, and actionable analysis of Microsoft’s strategy, technology, organization, and activities.

Widely recognized as one of the IT industry’s foremost experts on Microsoft, Rob has published more than 70 detailed reports on core Microsoft technologies over the past two decades. Rob’s expertise includes eight years at Microsoft from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s in a variety of software development and technical marketing roles. He was a software developer on the first version of Macintosh Word and marketed Microsoft operating system and server-based products while in the developer relations, networking product marketing, international, and OEM marketing groups.

Rob holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Wharton.
